Adam earned his Bachelor's degree in Music Composition from Arizona State University, before attending University of California at Los Angeles graduate music program, where he received the distinguished Master of Arts in Music Composition. There, Adam studied with film composers Christopher Young, Charles Fox, Paul Chihara, and Roger Bourland.

In 2003, Adam was invited to Bucharest, Romania where he recorded his orchestral work Inception with the National Radio Orchestra of Romania. In 2004, he won the prestigious UCLA Henry Mancini Film Music Fellowship. The following year, Adam collaborated with fellow UCLA Alumni, actor and director Corbin Bernsen on Carpool Guy, Corbin’s directorial debut. Adam coordinated the writing, arranging, and recording of more than 80 minutes in just six weeks. Recording took place in Los Angeles and contributing instrumentalists included friends from Mutato Muzika and jazz fusion pianist Jeff Lorber. In December 2005, Adam premiered his new Latin a cappella choral work, Ave Maria. It was performed at Royce Hall at UCLA by a choral group of more than 200 voices.
The last few years have included work with film composers, Alex Wurman, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby; Christopher Young, Ghost Rider, Spider Man 3, The Grudge 2; and collaborations with his friend Jeff Lorber.
Most recently, Adam has spent time working with Andrea Morricone, son of Ennio Morricone, recording in Prague and in Los Angeles at Capitol Studios and The Village in West Los Angeles. In 2009 he released his latest compilation of work titled *Quiet City. This latest compilation includes collaborations with Jeff Lorber Tony Moore, Alvaro Morello, John Entroth of Mutato Muzika and vocals by Maria Moraru.
